Mr. Crisler is responsible for assisting the engineering staff in the design and specifications of automatic sprinkler and fire alarm systems. Once a project has been awarded, Mr. Crisler works with the client and the fire protection subcontractors in the construction administration phase to ensure that the system installed is done so in accordance with national standards, construction specifications, and local code requirements. Additionally, Mr. Crisler performs fire hydrant flow tests to determine the available water supply on project sites. With this data, he can model the necessary infrastructure to support proposed construction and on-site utilities. Mr. Crisler’s peripheral duties include the acting capacity of senior CAD draftsman.
Major Project Experience
Del Rio Land Port of Entry – Del Rio, Texas (’06-‘07): Design of sprinkler and fire alarm systems and specification writing for 6-building border crossing and patrol station. Construction administration services including review of shop drawings, installation progress inspections, and associated reports. Project Role: Senior Fire Systems Designer.
Rio Grande Premium Outlet Mall – Mercedes, Texas (’05-‘06): Design of sprinkler and fire alarm systems, fire pump, and specification writing for 11-building, 300,000 s.f. retail outlet center. Construction administration services including review of shop drawings, installation progress inspections, and associated reports. Project Role: Senior Fire Systems Designer.
USS Lexington Aircraft Carrier – Corpus Christi, Texas (2002): Design of new retro-fitted sprinkler and standpipe system into the USS Lexington aircraft carrier main assembly area and aircraft control tower. Project Role: Senior Fire Systems Designer.
Boeing Aerospace Support Center – Kelly Air Force Base, Texas (’98-‘01): Design of conversion from open-head deluge sprinkler system to closed head wet-pipe sprinkler system and specification writing for work in 1.4 million s.f. aircraft hangar and support areas. Re-design of pump house piping configuration for proper supply from existing water storage tank. Involved in full analysis of existing system conditions for conversion of systems. Design of manual and automatic fire alarm, smoke detection, and occupant notification systems throughout hangar and support areas. Project Role: Senior Fire Systems Designer.

Mr. Crisler was responsible for installation and design of fire alarm systems and various types of special systems (e.g., Voice Intercom, Nurse Call, Radio Page, Security, etc.). His experience included design, supervision, and installation of systems for privately owned facilities plus state, and federal institutions. Responsibilities also included system analysis, testing, and trouble shooting.

McConnell Unit Maximum Security State Prison – Beeville, Texas (‘91-‘93): Design of manual and automatic fire alarm, smoke detection, and occupant notification systems and integration with central facilities control center for new 2,000,000+ s.f., 18-building detention center complex comprised of maximum security, general population, solitary confinement, psychiatric, healthcare, and administrative buildings. Project Role: Alarm Planning Superintendent, Lead Systems Designer.

Mr. Crisler’s duties included the installation and design of various types of fire sprinkler systems. His experience included extensive work in the field, site inspection, and system design for public facilities and institutions. (e.g., High Rise office buildings, Hospitals, Manufacturing, Warehouse, etc.). During his employment, Mr. Crisler was extremely successful in retrofit designs for existing facilities of historic value.
Major Project Experience:
Hillcrest Hospital – Waco, Texas (‘82-‘84): Design of automatic sprinkler, standpipe, and fire pump for 800,000 s.f., existing multiple-building hospital complex. Layout, coordination, and integration of system piping for this continuously occupied, highly complex retro-fitted campus. Project Role: Lead Systems Designer.

Jeff Crisler has 36 years experience in a wide range of fire protection areas which include fire suppression systems, fire detection systems, and building systems integration. He is also proficient in computer-aided design in a variety of formats. Mr. Crisler worked for 13 years as a sprinkler system designer and installation contractor in Texas and then worked for another 8 years as a fire alarm systems design and installation contractor prior to joining PDI. Mr. Crisler utilizes his knowledge of systems installation to produce detailed, accurate, and well designed systems under the direction of our professional engineers.
