1969-1995
Fire Prevention and Engineering Bureau of Texas, Dallas, Texas
The FP&EB was a property insurance company supported by approximately 180 member fire insurance companies. Underwriters with these member fire insurance companies charged the FP&EB with the responsibility of conducting fire protection evaluation and fire prevention services. In 1994, this Bureau was restructured, and all operations were transferred to Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO), with very little change in duties.
Mr. Vallone was a field inspector specializing in the design and performance of fire protection systems and conducted over 3,500 individual fire protection assessment surveys. This role required familiarity with many National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, codes, and recommended practices, and knowing which were appropriate to the specific operation. In addition to normal assignments, he was responsible for investigating, analyzing, and providing technical reports of findings for large value fire losses.
Major Project Experience
Southwest Texas State University – San Marcos, Texas (1980): Property insurance risk survey for 15-building, 1 million+ s.f. university campus and site fire protection infrastructure. Survey and analysis of fire protection systems such as sprinkler, standpipe, Halon 1301, dry/wet chemical, and fire alarm systems. Provided recommendations for correction of deficiencies. Project Role: Inspector.
Sommers and Deely Electric Generating Plants – San Antonio, Texas (1975): Property insurance risk survey for new coal burning power plant in accordance with NFPA guidelines.
