Biography
Samuel O. Goldwater has 40 years of fire protection experience ranging from combat line officer to senior management positions in some of the highest profile companies in fire protection. Mr. Goldwater finished out his fire combat career as a Division Chief with one of the nation’s largest emergency response contractors, where he held command positions for many major events, including Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. As an Area Commander including New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, and surrounding areas, Mr. Goldwater was responsible for day to day operations including logistics for the Union Pacific, the BNSF, and the Norfolk and Southern Railroads. Also under his command were all the power industry logistical support units based in Lake Charles.
Mr. Goldwater was recruited in 1981 by the International Fire Service Training Association, located on the campus of Oklahoma State University, where, from the results of first hand research with fire departments across North America, he developed text books and other training materials for firefighters. This, along with his NFPA Committee work, led to changes in the NFPA Standards. In addition, Mr. Goldwater taught firefighters throughout the State of Oklahoma through Oklahoma State Fire Service Training.
By 2008, Mr. Goldwater was recruited by ADS Tactical, the largest supplier of tactical equipment to the U.S. Military, to be part of the senior management team, and to head up Fire and Emergency Services. In 2010, ADS was awarded a $23MM contract with Army TACOM for Firefighter PPE based on Mr. Goldwater’s specifications. In addition, Goldwater developed the fire protection design criteria for NASA’s personal protective equipment and the rescue training program used by the Presidential Detail HAMMER Team (Hazardous Agent Mitigation / Medical Response Team)
Sam Goldwater has a unique combination of technical expertise, emergency operations, industry knowledge, and business savvy. When special projects arise, he is adept at taking command as project manager and bringing the project to a successful conclusion for all parties involved.
