Biography
With 10 years of fire sprinkler design, architecture school, and project management, Scott D. Kubena provides a multifaceted understanding of fire sprinkler life safety. Beginning with Mylar and pencil, and participating in field installs, Mr. Kubena learned the arguably more competent techniques of hand drafting and the consequences of exceptional designing in his early professional years. In the past several years Scott has accomplished multiple small to larger projects, from the design of fire sprinkler systems, to project management of the installation, and managing a design department. Part of his skill sets include spatial analysis, project budgeting, hydraulic calculations and onsite safety coordination, obtaining all necessary permits and working with local AHJ’s.
As a NICET Certified Engineering Technician, Mr. Kubena continually pushes his knowledge of fire protection design with the intention of obtaining a licensure as a Fire Protection Engineer in the future. Utilizing the latest design and BIM (Building Information Modeling) software, Mr. Kubena seizes the opportunity to increase productivity while creating a more finite and economical system design. Scott has designed wet, dry, pre-action, anit-freeze, ESFR systems including systems with fire pumps, automatic / manual standpipes with roof manifolds and underground firelines.
Working alongside the AHJ, creating relationships with multiple general contractors, owners, and architects, Scott has earned a well known reputation to be professional in his business dealings, while maintaining a personal level of sincerity and dedication in his work.
Mr. Kubena has valuable experience in the design of water based and special hazard suppression systems. As appropriate, he will support the PDI plan review team and will also assist with constructability concerns as well as industry practice insight.
