Robert J. Waxler, E.I.T.

Associate Fire Protection Engineer

Robert Waxler is an extremely dedicated individual that developed a passion for Fire Protection Engineering and Life Safety while attending the University of Texas-San Antonio. Starting his career in mechanical engineering, Robbie soon realized that his interest truly was in fire protection. Mr. Waxler followed his interest as a Graduate Engineer with the Prevention Division of the Austin Fire Department. While serving the City of Austin, he had the opportunity to participate in the review of fire protection systems for a wide variety of occupancies and provided key engineering support for AFD fire inspectors. His education, leadership, and professional experience make him a valuable member to the PDI team.

Mr. Waxler is committed to being involved in the A/E/C community and currently serves as Secretary-Treasurer for the Austin-San Antonio Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, the largest chapter in Texas. He is a member of the Development Process Task Force of San Antonio, which deals with City development issues. Having been a staff member of an “Authority Having Jurisdiction”, Mr. Waxler can better advise clients on code interpretations and industry changes that may affect projects.

With experience in industrial, residential, high-rise, storage, data center, retail, hospitality, assembly, and institutional occupancies, Mr. Waxler is competent to assist with fire and life safety concerns for any project. Mr. Waxler’s experience provides key insight into the operations of a major municipal Authority Having Jurisdiction and allows him to provide an invaluable service to the customers and clients of PDI.
Mr. Waxler consults with clients on projects involving occupancy classification (commodity) letters, conducts fire flow tests and provides hydraulic analysis for fire mains, layout of sprinkler and fire alarm systems, observes fire protection system installations, and provides consulting on the complex and often challenging issues that arise during design.
